JCI WEEK 2009 was formally launched during the 2nd National Board Meeting in Cold Spring Resort, Magalang, Pampanga. Our 2009 National President Fulbert Woo will led the national organization in the celebration advocating THINK GREEN Advocacy during the JCI Week from April 12 to 18.. This year’s theme is Earth… Environment… Everyone… We must be one! Eon Tiu of JCI Iloilo is National Chairman with 2009 National Board. The JCI Week is sponsored by Mang Inasal Corporation.

April 12 (Sunday) “Family Day on Easter Sunday”

JCI Chapters in Western Visayas led by JCI Philippines National President Fulbert Woo launched the National JCI Week with the theme “Earth…. Environment… Everyone.. We Must be One!” The call for unity to help our environment is consistent with JCI working theme of Global Impact through Local Action in which effort for Climate Change has been one of key goals for JCI.

The National President and National Chairman together with the chapters in Iloilo will have a church service at 9AM in IKTHUS-Iloilo, a non-denominational church. After the service, lunch will be served courtesy of IKTHUS-Iloilo.

 


 

April 13 (Monday)

Opening of JCI Iloilo Exhibit at SM City Iloilo Proceed to Jordan, Guimaras for the Tree Planting of 61 seeds of Acacia Manguim trees at the Guimaras Adventure Park and will be covered by ABS CBN Region 6, Radio networks and Local Newspaper.

April 14 (Tuesday) AREA 4 “A Green Livelihood Project” By: JCI-Iloilo

This project was conceptualized by JCI-Iloilo which is entitled “Tetra for a Cause.” The aim of this project is to recycle tetra packs, which are considered trash, and turned it into a livelihood program. This project will create a source of living to the mothers of the Juvenile Delinquents of “Dalayunan - A Home for Boys” in Bo. Obrero, Iloilo City. These tetra packs can be converted into bags, placemats, hats, envelopes, and other useful things. The National Chairman, Eon Tiu provided all tetra packs to be used as initial start up for this project. JCI-Iloilo will also donate a sewing machine at “Dalayunan - A Home for Boys."

April 15 (Wednesday)

AREA 1 “A Green Project and Dagupan Bangus Festival”

JCI-Philippines will join in the opening of the “Dagupan Bangus Festival,” which will be spearheaded by NEVP Ryan Ravanzo. During the parade, there will be a float for JCI-Philippines which will be utilized by the National President and National Chairman and other JCI Members. After which, there will be a think green project in the area.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

April 16 (Thursday) AREA 3 “A Green Project”

NEVP Karen Sia will spearhead a think green project in the area, specifically in Batangas and Cavite. NP Fulbert and JCI Week National Chairman Eon Tiu graced the occasion of their treeplanting activities in Tagaytay. NSEVP Eds, NT Lear, NVP Kon, local presidents of Cavite Region, Past NVP Concon, national chairpersons and other past national officers were present and shared their part in help saving mother earth planting trees along Tagaytay National Highway.

April 17 (Friday) AREA 5 “Environmental Forum”

This is a one-day event which will be attended by Young Leaders of Davao. In this Environmental Forum, the National President will talk about “Climate Change.” NP Fulbert together with NEVP Ivan, NVP Richard, ATD Steve and JCI Week Chairman Eon, were guest in a show Talakayan, Balitaan at Kaalaman with Jimmy Torres at Hotel Mandaya. April 18 (Saturday) AREA 2 “A Fellowship Night and Awarding”

The culminating night of JCI Week will be handled by Area 2 headed by its National Executive Vice President and National Vice President for Metro South.  The venue will be at JCI Headquaters at 8PM.  All LOM members that will be attending the culminating fellowship night will be in GREEN to emphasize this year’s JCI Week theme.


Area 4 with JCI Cebu Sinulog also conducted a Dive for A Cause event wherein divers clean up the waters off the Island of Mactan.

JCI WEEK PROJECTS
“Think Green Advocacy”

  1. Day 1 Family Day – chapter to hold family day event for their members to include activities for children of JCI members.
  2. Day 2 Launching & Motorcade – chapters must implement public relations event announcing their respective local projects and other upcoming programs. May hold local forum, press conference and media interview.
  3. Day 3 How Climate Change Can Change You? – conduct essay writing among students in a chosen school. Essay answers the following question “How Climate Change Can Change You?”
  4. Day 4 Green Business Plan – chapters must work with local business leaders or business students and come up with business plan competition focused on Green Business Plan for their community. Chapter may also hold business networking night wherein topic to be tackled by business leaders are focused on energy saving initiatives.
  5. Day 5 Recycle Challenge – chapters will organize a long term program with a cooperative or community organization wherein they advocate the use of recycled materials.
  6. Day 6 Tree Planting – highway, park, school or watershed. Must partner with schools, govt agency or NGO.
