JUNE CIRCULARS
Dear Fellow JCI members and friends,

Warmest JCI greetings!

The Junior Chamber International Philippines has the following goal and mission: to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing young persons with the opportunity to develop leadership skills, social responsibility and fellowship for a positive change. This mission finds basis in our JCI Creed, which believes among others…“…That government should be of laws rather than of men and that service to humanity is the best work of life.”

Last June 26, 2009, we have just successfully launched the 2009 Search for The Outstanding Councilors of the Philippines (TOCP) during the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) 2nd National Executive Board Meeting in Waterfront Hotel, Davao City. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement was done with more than 1,000 councilors in attendance led by their National President Victor V. Ferrer, Jr. and National Chairman and JCI Dagupan Past President Michael B. Fernandez and a good number of JCI members led by our  National President Fulbert Woo.

It was in 2006 during the incumbency of PCL National President Carlo Pontico Fortuna and JCI Philippines National President Ismael Penado when the idea of to give due recognition to Philippine Councilors for their outstanding achievements and meritorious service was conceptualized. Recognizing the importance to bestow such national award, the proposal was readily approved and adopted by their respective national boards, thus, The Outstanding Councilor of the Philippines (TOCP) Award was born. TOCP is now on its 2nd implementation and has become a strong partnership between the Office of Senator Edgardo J. Angara, the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) and JCI Philippines.

TOCP 2009 is now open for nomination and nomination forms are available at the JCI Philippines Headquarters or at the PCL National Office, 4th Floor, DILG Building, A. Francisco Condominium II,  EDSA, Quezon City. There will be a regional search to choose at least 17 Finalists who will qualify for the National Finals where the 10 Winners will be chosen and who will be awarded with P100,000.00 worth of projects each. Deadline of Submission is on September 15, 2009. JCI Local Organizations will be given three (3) points per nominee maximum of six (6) in the JCIPEA.  For more information on the project you can call JCI Philippines Secretariat at tel. No. (02) 3737907 to 09, Fax No. (02) 3744138 or the PCL office at telfax (02)925-1147 / 9251132 or email at nom@philjaycees.com.

It is said that public officials who exhibit both ambition and motivation make things happen. They are those who chart their destiny through diligence and solid commitment to public service. They are the unsung heroes in our midst who create the standards by which others in government service are judged. If it is idealistic, it is because public servants must have his idealism intact if he has to shape for himself a better future, a better community  and a better world. It is but proper to give national recognition to our councilors for their selfless dedication to their solemn oath and who render public service above self.

Yours in JCI,

JCI Mem. JOSE JONATHAN N. EALDAMA
