Young Leaders Program
JCI Philippines Young Leaders Program
In 2002 JCI Philippines opened talks with the Japan Information and Cultural Center of the Japanese Government and forged agreement for our national organization to participate in its prestigious Young Leaders’ Program (YLP). Since then every year JCI Philippines has been sending a representative for this scholarship program.
The program essentially offers scholarships to foreign students who wish to study in the prestigious Hitotsubashi University, Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS) as YLP students in business administration annually under the Japanese Government Program. As applicants from more than 14 countries are vying for a maximum of 15 slots in the program, needless to say, interested parties will be undergoing a highly competitive screening procedure.
Every year, JCI Philippines is opening this application to all JCI members who may be interested to participate. Each local organization is encouraged to nominate one (1) candidate. JCI Philippines will have a paper screening of all application forms before these names are to be submitted to the Japanese Embassy for final selection.
Graduates of the Young Leaders Program to date are the following: JG Puzon of JCI San Juan Pinaglabana, Rommel Dumlao of JCI Surigao Nickel, Lavi Penaverde and Marie Murillo of JCI Perlas Pasay, Joel Tabing of JCI Manila, Raymar Padilla of JCI San Juan Pinaglabanan. The 2008 YLP scholars were Irish Reyes and Cristina delos Santos. This year's candidates for YLP are Hazel Saez of JCI Perlas Pasay and Juan Dalisay Jr. of JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel.
On its 8th year the Japanese Embassy is now again extending its invitation of joining this program for 2009. Application forms soon be available at the JCI Philippines Secretariat.

Hitotsubashi University, Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS), is one of five designated universities in Japan participating in a scholarship program sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho), called the Young Leaders' Program (YLP).
The primary objectives of the Young Leaders' Program are as follows:
To foster the development of future national leaders in Asian and other countries
To create comprehensive networks of government and business leaders in the international community
To contribute to the establishment of friendly relations among Asian and other countries, including Japan
The YLP offers promising young business and government leaders from Asian and other countries the opportunity to study in Japan at a Master's level in one of the following disciplines:
Business Management Course: Hitotsubashi University, Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy (ICS)
School of Government Course: National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS)
Local Government Course: Kobe University
Medical Administration Course: Nagoya University
Law Course: Kyushu University
The MBA (Masters of Business Administration) program at Hitotsubashi ICS is designed to prepare students for work in the private sector. Courses focus on strategy, marketing, accounting/finance, etc. All classes are taught in English, and in contrast with other designated universities, YLP participants at Hitotsubashi ICS are completely integrated into the regular program; in other words, they must follow the same academic calendar and meet exactly the same academic requirements as all other students. As a consequence, YLP participants experience a very intensive and challenging curriculum at Hitotsubashi ICS.
